Life Under a Ginkgo Tree
Overnight, a beautiful snow storm of 5-9 inches had blanketed the
metropolitan area. But the ginkgo, with most of its
densely-packed, fan-shaped leaves yet to fall, is threatened with a
major pruning. A heavy snow can stick to the leaves and weigh
down the graceful, drooping limbs until they snap. We lost a lot of
the tree several years ago in an early snow storm infamously
referred to as the "October surprise." This year no pruning, but
a surprise show.
